Sifuna Criticizes Ruto's Announcement on Football Friendly

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has criticized President William Ruto's decision to announce a friendly match between Bayern Munich and Ajax Amsterdam.

The match is set to take place on January 5, 2027, at the Raila Odinga International Stadium. Sifuna expressed disappointment that the President's announcement from Moscow did not address the alleged detention of Kenyans in Ukraine.

Detention Claims

Sifuna claims that over 1,000 Kenyans were recruited to fight alongside Russian forces in Ukraine, with some being held in detention camps. However, he did not provide evidence for these claims, and the Kenyan government has not confirmed them.

Sifuna pledged to personally intervene to secure the release of any detained Kenyans if he were elected President.
